If chronic unexcused tardiness becomes an issue, then the following steps will be taken:
Leaving Early
Students are scheduled to be in school from 8:00am - 2:15 pm. When students leave school early
on a daily basis, it begins to disrupt the educational process. If a student is being pulled out
of class to leave early more than twice per week or four times per month without appropriate
documentation/an emergency ie medical/dental/mental heath appointment, death of a family member.
Please be advised that three (3) unexcused early dismissal by parent requests equals one absent
school day. If chronic unexcused early dismissal by parent request becomes an issue then the
above steps regarding tardiness will apply.
Absence Procedures
Children are expected to attend school each day. If your child is ill or an emergency occurs,
please contact the school social worker or the main office that school day. Also, please send
a note when the child returns to class. If your child has a medical condition that may cause
him/her to miss school days, please provide the school with medical documentation. The medical
documentation must have the following information:
1) state the medical condition,
2)
The nature of the medical condition will cause student to miss school days and/or be tardy,
3)
If the condition causes the student to be absent/tardy, how many times per week,
4) If
documentation doesn't state that the student should miss any days and the student misses or is tardy
two or more school days per week, then medical documentation must be given to the school social worker
or school nurse. Please be advised that the school nurse must be informed of any medical conditions
and must have an updated school medical form.
If chronic unexcused absenses becomes an issue, then the following steps will occur:
Please be advised that if the student has chronic unexcused tardies/early dismissals by parent request/absenses problem and it equals up to five (5) unexcused absenses. A court referral will be made to the Hamilton Country Juvenile Court.
