School Policies

PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR:

  • School will begin at 7:45 and be dismissed at 2:15
  • Breakfast will be served from 7:45 - 8:00 daily
  • Students who will be taking medication at school will need to have a new medication form completed and on file. Get this completed by your doctor and returned to school right away. Medication cannot be given to the student without it.
  • Students are expected to arrive on time and to be present each school day.

    Tardy Procedures
Each student will be given a fifteen minute grace period to arrive at school. Students who do arrive at school after 8:00 am must report to the main office for a tardy slip. Please note that 8:01 am is considered to be tardy. Students will not be permitted into the classrom without a tardy slip. Please be advised that three (3) unexcused tardies equals one absent school day.

If chronic unexcused tardiness becomes an issue, then the following steps will be taken:

  • Three (3) unexcused tardies- the student will be assigned detention and a warning letter will be mailed to the parent.
  • Four (4) or more unexcused tardies- the student will be assigned to In-school suspension and a warning letter will be sent home.
  • Ten (10) unexcused tardies- a parent conference will be held.
  • Fifteen (15) unexcused tardies- court referral will be made.
  • Leaving Early
Students are scheduled to be in school from 8:00am - 2:15 pm. When students leave school early on a daily basis, it begins to disrupt the educational process. If a student is being pulled out of class to leave early more than twice per week or four times per month without appropriate documentation/an emergency ie medical/dental/mental heath appointment, death of a family member. Please be advised that three (3) unexcused early dismissal by parent requests equals one absent school day. If chronic unexcused early dismissal by parent request becomes an issue then the above steps regarding tardiness will apply.

    Absence Procedures
Children are expected to attend school each day. If your child is ill or an emergency occurs, please contact the school social worker or the main office that school day. Also, please send a note when the child returns to class. If your child has a medical condition that may cause him/her to miss school days, please provide the school with medical documentation. The medical documentation must have the following information:
    1) state the medical condition,
    2) The nature of the medical condition will cause student to miss school days and/or be tardy,
    3) If the condition causes the student to be absent/tardy, how many times per week,
    4) If documentation doesn't state that the student should miss any days and the student misses or is tardy two or more school days per week, then medical documentation must be given to the school social worker or school nurse. Please be advised that the school nurse must be informed of any medical conditions and must have an updated school medical form.

If chronic unexcused absenses becomes an issue, then the following steps will occur:

  • Two (2) unexcused absenses- the student will be assigned detention and a warning letter will be mailed to the parent.
  • Three (3) unexcused absenses- the student will be assigned to In-school suspension and a letter will be sent home to the parent.
  • Four (4) unexcused absenses- a parent conference will be held.
  • Five (5) unexcused absenses- court referral will be made.
  • Please be advised that if the student has chronic unexcused tardies/early dismissals by parent request/absenses problem and it equals up to five (5) unexcused absenses. A court referral will be made to the Hamilton Country Juvenile Court.
